Since Monday, March 16, 2020, Cross Roads OB/GYN has had measures in place to optimize the safety of our patients and staff during the Covid-19 pandemic.
CLINIC POLICIES
Please CALL AHEAD and DO NOT ENTER the clinic if
ANY of these apply:
You have Covid-19 SYMPTOMS
Any ONE of:
- fever, chills
- cough
- shortness of breath
Any TWO of:
sore throat, extreme fatigue, body aches, diarrhea, loss of appetite, headaches, nausea or vomitingYou are under QUARANTINE after TRAVEL outside Canada in the past 2 weeks (exempt if doubly vaccinated with negative PCR)
You are under SELF-ISOLATION because you are Covid-19 positive or a close contact to to a known case of Covid-19
For the safety of other patients and staff, please be honest in reporting. You will still receive care, but we will ensure that it is delivered to you in the safest way possible.
If care is non-urgent, it will be postponed until the risk is lower. If it is urgent, we will arrange the safest possible setting to see you. Covid-related late-notice cancellation fees are waived.
In-person appointments have continued throughout the pandemic, but TELEVISITS are being scheduled when in-person visits are not required for initial or follow-up care.
When in-person visits are necessary, a MEDICAL GRADE MASK is now required. If you have one, please wear it to the appointment. If you have a cloth mask, we will ask you to change it to a medical mask, which we will provide, upon arrival. It must be worn at all times, even when alone in an exam room.
Please sanitize hands upon arrival.
As of January 5, 2022, due to the Omicron surge, we are no longer allowing support persons to attend appointments unless their presence is medically necessary (eg. mobility, translation issues).
We encourage the use speakerphone/Facetime if you wish your partner/support person to be involved in your appointment.
Our Medical Office Assistants (MOAs) may be working from home on non-clinic days, and you will need to e-mail or leave a voicemail on those days.
SUPPORT PERSON POLICY
Effective January 5, 2022
Due to the Omicron surge, support persons are not currently permitted to attend appointments unless their presence is medically necessary. They are asked to please wait OUTSIDE our waiting room.
If there is a medical necessity for attendance, please contact us by e-mail or phone, ahead of the appointment, in order for suitable arrangements to be made.
HOSPITAL CARE
OB
Obstetrical care in hospital is largely unchanged. Currently, TWO support people are allowed in labour, not including doulas. Siblings of the newborn are now being allowed as visitors as well.
Pregnant women are at much higher risk for severe illness (hospital admission/ICU care) with Covid-19 compared to non-pregnant women of the same age, and vaccination in pregnancy is highly recommended.
January 4, 2022 Update
Pregnant women are currently eligible for priority access to BOOSTER SHOTS, but must self identify as pregnant by calling 1-833-838-2323.
GYN
Emergency care is unchanged. Elective surgeries have resumed, but there is a backlog of surgeries due to the spring 2020 cancellations, and waits are generally longer as a result.
